Spare Car Keys & Key Duplication in Vancouver, WA

The easiest time to replace a car key is before you lose the only one. If you still have a working key, we can come to you in Vancouver and make a spare.

Why a spare is worth it

Many households run on a single key for years. Everything is fine until that key goes missing, gets damaged, or goes through the washing machine. At that point it becomes an all-keys-lost job, which is usually more involved than copying a key you already have.

Making a spare while you still have a working original is the simpler route, and it gives a second driver in the household their own key.

Types of keys we duplicate

  • Metal keys without a chip, on older vehicles

  • Transponder chip keys that need to be cut and programmed

  • Remote head and flip keys

  • Smart keys and push-to-start fobs, where the vehicle allows adding a key

  • Worn keys that still work, but only sometimes

A copy from a hardware store kiosk may unlock the door but not start the engine if the car expects a programmed chip. We handle both the cut and the programming at the vehicle.

What to send us

  • Year, make, and model of the vehicle

  • A photo of your current key, both sides

  • The FCC ID or part number, if it is printed on the key or fob

  • Where the vehicle is located in the Vancouver area

How adding a spare key works

Adding a key while you still have one is the easiest and usually the most affordable way to avoid being stuck later.

  1. Car details and your working key. Bring the key you have. It shows us the key type and, on many cars, makes programming simpler.

  2. Ownership check. Registration or title, plus ID.

  3. Choose the right key. Matching blade profile and chip, and for remotes the frequency and buttons. Where both fit, we explain the difference between original and quality aftermarket keys.

  4. Cut and check the blade. Copied from your key or cut by code, then checked for a smooth turn.

  5. Add it to the car. Many cars accept the new key while keeping your existing keys. Some models require every key to be present during programming; we tell you in advance so you can bring them all.

  6. Test old and new. We start the car with each key and check the buttons and keyless functions where equipped.

  7. Hand-off. You leave with working keys and know how many are registered to the car.

Equipment and care

Even a simple spare is programming work. We confirm the key suits your vehicle before we begin, use the procedure your car supports, and check that both the new and the existing keys work afterward.

Ownership verification

Before we make or program any key, we verify ownership. Please have the vehicle registration, title, or insurance card ready, or have the registered owner present.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my working key?

Yes. Have the working key with you at the vehicle. On many cars it is part of the process of adding a new key.

Will the spare have remote buttons?

That depends on the key you choose and on the vehicle. Tell us what you have now and we will explain the options for your model.

How many spares should I get?

At least one extra key per vehicle. Households with more than one driver often keep one key per driver.

My key is cracked or the buttons are worn. Is that duplication?

It can be. Sometimes a new shell is enough, and sometimes a new key is the better choice. A photo helps us tell you which.
